Affiliate Selling

If you are looking for home working ideas, then affiliate selling is probably an excellent starting place. Let’s take a quick look at the advantages.

First, with affiliate selling you have a product to promote and sell, but you don’t have the hassle of stock control, postage and packing, payment processing, fraudulent order handling and the likes. Your income is dependent on the number and value of orders, the same as being a retailer. And you know from the outset what percentage profit you are working to as your commission is agreed before you generate any orders. And you don’t have to employ staff to handle orders and customer enquiries.

So that’s why you should give affiliate selling a go, but what does it entail and where can you sign up for a few schemes? Affiliate selling is simply promoting a product, products or a company on behalf of someone else. In return, for each order successfully placed, the company you are promoting pay you a commission on that order. Usually a percentage of the total order value.

It really is that simple. You run the adverts, the company you are promoting deals with the orders and gives you a payment. The difficulty in all of this is finding the companies with the structure within their web site to fulfil an affiliate scheme.

Visiting selective web site and seeing if there is an affiliates link is a good starting point, but many sites with affiliate schemes don’t promote it that way. The best way to find affiliate schemes is to sign up for one of the major systems such as Affiliate Window, Affiliate Future and Trade Doubler, to name but three large directories.

The advantages of going via a directories rather than direct to the company are numerous. Firstly, it makes it far easier to find suitable companies to promote as they are listed within a directory and you can browse the directory to find new merchants. Also, because you can work with several merchants from the same directory, your earnings are pooled into a single payment. This not only makes your book keeping easier, but if you are only making a small income when you start up, then these small incomes can add together into a larger payment above the payment threshold. There’s also the possibility that you might drop a merchant before earning the minimum payment amount. By using a directory, this amount is carried over to the rest of your income rather than lost.

Some people worry that by using a directory to find merchants can result in lower earnings if the directory takes a cut of the commission. But in my experience this is not the case, the merchants usually absorb the cost.

If you are starting out with earning from home, affiliate selling is a good way forward.
