Increasing Income of Niche Website
Getting the most residual income from a niche website that you intend to sell somewhere down the line may not seem more than an added bonus, but it is actually vital. This is because potential buyers of the website might, in fact probably will, want to look back at stats such as how much traffic the site has received and more importantly how much it has earned.
Now these people may well have ideas as to how to get more money out of the website traffic in the future, but a good starting point of a valuable income is a good bargaining tool when it comes to selling it.
So what tricks and tools can you add to the site to enable your new site to start to prove its worth? Well the first thing that many people will look into is pay per click schemes such as Adsense, and I have no problems there. Add some adverts in key areas of the page and you should get a decent click through rate and a good income as the adverts will be targeted closely to the page content.
After that, have a look and see if your site fits closely into an affiliate scheme. In this case you might be able to link to merchants or even to products on a merchant’s website. This could even be the basis of the structure of the website as you build a directory of items that your favoured merchant sells. Well, it’s a good starting place.
You can also try cross selling suitable product. For example, Amazon might have travel guides if you are running a hotel website. There are some excellent cross selling opportunities there.
Another possibility, although this usually comes with traffic, is to approach advertisers and sell advertising space rather than affiliate space. This can be seen as valuable income when you decide to sell the website.
A further stream of income can be generated through operating a website newsletter. To simplify this, sign up to a free newsletter system and put on to the site the newsletter signup form. Then send your readers regular newsletters, but not so often that you chase them off and they unsubscribe. Make them offers, tell them about the merchant’s latest discounts etc. If possible, use the newsletter package to track the number of people opening the email and clicking on the affiliate links within the newsletter.
You can then report the number of people in your circulation list and typical click through rates and even how much your average income increases with the sending of each newsletter. This sort of information is vital when you come to sell the website and could push up the selling price by quite a lot!
