A couple of my local contacts work for themselves from home providing photo restoration and photographic retouching services.

Well by pure chance a couple of days ago I was contacted by someone who makes a good income through selling their art on various products. At first glance, it seems highly involved, requiring huge stock levels and a well organised shipping channel.

Actually, I have discovered that with the correct (free!!!) tools it is very simple to do! You can sell t-shirts, mugs, keyrings, fridge magnets, underwear and more with your own designs printed on them. Best of all, they are printed to order, despatched straight to the buyer and even the payment system (and the dreaded chargebacks) are handled for you, for free. You just set a charge per item sold, which is what you receive!

I have not (yet) got around to trying this for myself as I have literally only just learnt how easy it is to do. But look at the services involved with sites such as CafePress and see what they can do. They even add all of your products to their market place, so you do not need to be doing all of the selling if you don’t want to.

I don’t know how many you would sell, but it would be possible to upload a few basic designs and hope they sell in the marketplace.
